The history of the first certified organic vinegar factory.
In this article I would like to tell how the story of our company is unique and original, we are the first certified organic vinegar factory. When Felice and Iride Guerzoni, in an attempt to react to the problem of pollution of rivers and air, in 1984 decided to embrace the Biodynamicphilosophy by registering directly with Demeter in Germany to obtain certification. In those years there was no Demeter certification in Italy or even the Demeter central office, so they decided to apply directly to the Demeter office in Germany where the Organic and Biodynamic already was experiencing a moment of great interest. After the first inspection by inspector Dr. Obermaier sent by German Demeter, he signed the contract with the acceptance of the company in the control circuit with the Biodin brand, thus beginning the period of 3 years of conversion of the vineyards. The contract was signed on 6 June 1984

Few companies like Guerzoni can boast such documents, we have been pioneers of organic and biodynamic agriculture in Italy. First producers of Organic Balsamic Vinegar of Modena igp (but also Demeter) and unique producers of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena Organic DOP and Demeter. Incredible to think how the books written by Rudolf Steiner in the early 1900s have convinced our family so much to weave its history. Today the company is run by his son, Lorenzo Guerzoni, who carries on the teachings and the history of his father’s company, who followed his studies in Chemistry and the Demeter directives for the production of the best balsamic vinegar.
